New to Colorado Springs, April Heckmann is a violinist with 10 years of teaching experience. April holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from Pensacola Christian College. She was concertmaster of the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra and II Violin Principle for the PCC Orchestra. In 2017, April volunteered as a strings instructor for the Youth in Unison Program at Open Door Community Center.  Under the instruction of Dr. Gail Johansen, April received her training as an instructor for the Violin Suzuki Method Books 1-6. From 2017-2020, April was an active member of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra in Fairbanks, AK. 


Composition has always been a personal enjoyment for April. In the last few years, April began her newest musical journey as a composer and studied under Dr. William Post, Composition Professor at University of Alaska Fairbanks. 

April is passionate about music and people. She desires to create an atmosphere where learning is fun and engaging.  April looks forward to sharing musical experiences with musicians of all abilities.
